Pop Corn Balls - How To

So I started to put everything together for the kids to help me make popcorn balls, one of the treats we make every year, and I could not find the recipe.  I had to search online and hope to find one that would replicate my family recipe.  I came across one and just modified it.

I omitted white vinegar and did not add vanilla.  Let the sugar mixture cook till hard crack.  Once I popped the corn in the pan I added a sprinkle of salt to allow for that sweet and salty taste.  Just in case you missed it, yes I said pan for popping popcorn:)  It is the pan that my grandmother, my kids great grandmother, used when she was a kid.  How much more natural can you get, besides the sugar you will be pouring on it of course;)

I allowed the kids to put butter on their hands and help form the balls once it had COOLED, about two minutes.  Then they wrapped each popcorn ball with some candy corns in individual bags so my son could bring them to his classmates.

When making the popcorn balls you can add M&Ms, chocolate chip mini's, or any other kind of candy.  Just make sure to let the sugar mixture to cool a little bit before adding.  You do not want the candy to melt.

I hope you enjoy making these sweet and salty treats!!!
